My name is Michael Godoy. I am a Dean of Students, Dean of Attendance, and the School Registrar. I am a graduate of Cathedral High School, class of 1997. I earned my BS from Loyola Marymount University in 2002 and my MA from Mount St. Mary's University in 2017. In the Fall of 2003, I was officially hired full-time at Cathedral High School. I am in my 17th year as part of the faculty of Cathedral. During my career at Cathedral, I have taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Speech. I was also a Freshman Moderator and the Freshman/Sophomore Academic Counselor.
I was the head volleyball coach from 2005 through the 2015 season. After the 2015 season, I retired from coaching. During my 11-year coaching tenure, my teams were able to capture 6 league titles. In 2012, we captured the program's first CIF title defeating Santa Monica HS in a 5 set thriller. In 2013, we were able to repeat as CIF Champions, defeating our league foe, Bishop Montgomery. This was the first time in school history for a sports team to capture multiple CIF championships and consecutively. In 2014, history was repeated by capturing a third consecutive CIF title, once again defeating Bishop Montgomery. This was the first time in school history for a sports team to capture a third CIF title and in consecutive years. During our CIF titles run, I was named CIF Coach of Year in 2012, 2013, and 2014. This was a great personal accomplishment, but it wouldn't have been achieved without the support of parents, faculty, staff, and administration of Cathedral HS. More importantly, these accomplishments were made possible by the hard work, dedication, and pride of the student-athletes.
