The Mathematics Club was initiated by the class of 1985 and was endorsed to the Associated Student Body for approval. In the year 1984 Cathedral High School Mathematics Club was born. The club was named Theta Sigma Pi. The Greek letters, theta used for angle, sigma for summation and pi for the geometric constant for circle, symbols commonly used in the field of mathematics. The Mathematics Club started with 56 members and year after year grew in number. At present it has at least 250 members.
The objectives of the club are
- To stimulate interest in the field of mathematics through mathematical competition.
- To develop an appreciation of the power and beauty of mathematics
- To recognize the outstanding mathematical achievement of the members
- To establish and maintain close relationships and mutual understanding between members and officers
Any student interested in mathematics regardless of grade in math is eligible
to join this club.
